A proper Hollywood underground room behind a custom Funktion-One rig β house and techno DJs on the main nights, not a bottle-service tourist trap.
Sound bills itself as an underground-first room built around a custom Funktion-One sound system (part of a limited product line, with a 3D mapping rig that reshapes the room's mood night to night). Main nights lean house, tech-house and techno, and there's a separate, quieter members' room ("Blind Tiger") for late-night conversation away from the floor. It isn't run by a single promoter β different local and touring DJs are booked night to night β so check the specific date's lineup on Resident Advisor or the club's own site if you want a guaranteed house set rather than techno.
- DOOR
- Not a notoriously brutal door by LA standards, but photo ID and the dress code are enforced without exception β turning up in sportswear, a jersey or sandals is the single most common reason people get turned away. Weekend nights with a known touring DJ can queue and sell out at the door, so don't assume a walk-in is guaranteed on a big booking.
- DRESS
- Smart casual β nice jeans or slacks with a shirt or blouse works well. Not allowed, per the club's own dress-code page: shorts, sweatpants/joggers, athletic tops or sports jerseys, beachwear or revealing tanks, flip-flops/sandals, and work boots.
- PHOTO
- Assume no photos on the floor β many clubs cover phone cameras.typical
- AGE
- 21+ β standard for LA/California nightclubs serving alcohol. Every guest needs a valid, physical, government-issued photo ID; there are no exceptions.
- CASH
- Roughly $20-25 general cover for a normal DJ night at the door (cash or card); headline touring names push it into the $30-50+ range (typically, as of 2026). Always check the specific event listing β bigger nights are sometimes ticketed in advance and can sell out at the door. Β· cash / card
- GETTING IN
- Buy ahead for anything with a headline or touring DJ β tickets are sold through Dice and the club's own site, and door cover on those nights usually runs higher than advance pricing. For a normal night, cash or card at the door works. Sound's own site also sells a "Sound Insider" membership and table reservations if you want guaranteed entry and a table. Always carry a valid, physical photo ID β 21+ is enforced strictly. Rideshare is the practical way in: Sound sits on N Las Palmas Ave just off Hollywood Blvd, and the nearest Metro stops (Hollywood/Highland, Hollywood/Vine) are a walkable 10 minutes if you'd rather take the train partway.

- Nearest station
- Hollywood/Highland or Hollywood/Vine (Metro B Line), each roughly a 10-minute walk β LA nightlife is rideshare/car-first, so most guests still arrive by Uber/Lyft
