House & techno clubs in Mexico City (door, nights, fees)

Short answer: Resident Advisor calls Mexico City one of the world's great dance capitals, and two rooms are the reliable place to start. Fünk is a Funktion-One basement in Condesa running house, techno and disco Thursday to Saturday; Departamento is a long-running Roma Norte spot that stacks a club, live music and a rooftop terrace and leans house, minimal and deep house. Both are 18+, both fill up late (arrive before 1am to skip the worst line), and cover typically runs somewhere in the 200-500 MXN range depending on the night and the booking. The clubs cluster in Roma Norte, Condesa and Juárez — walkable by day, but take a rideshare home.

The one caveat worth stating up front: Mexico City's club scene turns over quickly, so treat any single listing as a starting point and confirm the week's line-up and door on Resident Advisor or the venue's own Instagram before you commit.

The rooms, compared

Fünk

Fünk sits in a basement at Avenida Insurgentes Sur 377, in Colonia Hipódromo on the edge of Condesa, and it's built around a Funktion-One sound system with immersive lighting — a proper listening-and-dancing room rather than a bottle-service club. Programming spans techno, house, deep house and progressive, with past headliners including Rhadoo, Magda and Fumiya Tanaka. It runs mainly Thursday to Saturday, doors around 11pm and on to roughly 5am, and it's 18+ with ID checked at the door. Cover has been reported at around 500 MXN, but it varies by line-up, so check the event. Fünk openly champions its queer and trans crowd; its Thursday "Funky" sessions are explicitly aimed at the LGBTQ+ community. As with most CDMX doors, bring some pesos in cash even though cards are widely taken — confirm the night's payment reality if that matters to you.

Departamento

Departamento, on Álvaro Obregón in the heart of Roma Norte, is a long-standing favourite that combines a club floor, live music and DJ sets with a rooftop terrace, and its bookings lean house, minimal and deep house. It's a smaller room (capacity around 300) that gets busy late and runs its club nights into the early hours, so arriving earlier helps you skip the line. Cover typically lands in the 200-400 MXN range depending on the night. It's 18+; carry ID. Because it's a compact space with a loyal crowd, it's worth checking the week's booking on Resident Advisor before you build a night around it — some nights are live music or specific residencies rather than a straight club night.

Two more, and one to check

RA's 2026 Mexico City guide also lists Bar Oriente (Roma Norte; house, techno) and Loo Loo (Juárez; tech house, disco) as current, reliable options if Fünk and Departamento don't have the night you want. One name you may see quoted elsewhere is Yu Yu: the original Colonia Juárez club (2017-2024) closed abruptly and the project has been relaunching as "Yu Yu Cine Club" at a new location — so don't assume a fixed address or night for it; check its current listings before you head over.

Getting home

The Metro and Metrobús both stop around midnight (since March 2026, Metro lines 1, 2 and 7 run a little later on Friday and Saturday, with last departures from Insurgentes around 1am), which means after a club you're relying on a rideshare. Standard local advice is to use Uber or Didi rather than hailing a street taxi at night — the app gives you an assigned driver, plate and record. Wait inside the venue until your car is close, check the plate and driver before getting in, and don't stand on the pavement scrolling your phone. Roma Norte, Condesa and Juárez are close together and generally fine to move around, but the rideshare rule still applies in the small hours.
